My name is Amanda Richter I am a 19 year old indigenous entrepreneur/ owner of N’ci?cn’s Designs. I am a proud member of the Syilx and Wuikinuxv nation. The name of my business N’ci?cn’s Designs comes from the nsyilxcen word n’ci?cn meaning wolf. I first started my online business at the age of 17. I am a self taught beader and sewer although I do more than just sew and bead. I also do pine needle work like baskets, earring and barrettes. A few things my business is known for is my applique work on towels and hand towels as well as my traditional apparel. I specialize in ribbon skirt and ribbon shirt making as well as beaded jewelry. I am very proud of how much my business has grown over the years and how much I have grown as an indigenous business woman. I initially created N’ci?cn’s Designs because I wanted to be my own boss and not work for anyone else while also persuing my passion of being a designer but now its much more than that. I get to share my culture with everyone around the world indigenous and non-indigenous and I think that is my greatest accomplishment.
The Syilx Trail Gift Store and Gallery is at the heart of the beautiful Okanagan Valley located at Lake Okanagan Shopping Mall on WFN lands, unceded traditional territories of the Syilx People. Our mission is to prioritize the sale of authentic local indigenous art with WFN band members while educating the customer about the story of the artwork.
